One day in the Black Forest ❅

Travelling without destination

"Not all those who wander are lost." J.R.R Tolkien

Last Tuesday we spontaneously decided to go to the Black Forest in Germany the next morning. We packed all our travel stuff  and personal belongings last minute and started our way at 6 in the morning. Grhh. Usually I am a morning grouch but if I travel, I don't need any sleep at all.
Since we didn't had a real destination, we just drove to a little lake named "Titisee". Our only condition was, that it had to be SNOWY because I just wanted to do a snowball fight, make a snow angel and just admire those untouched beautiful nature.
After such a long time riding we finally saw our first snow this year.
It started slowly but I was impressed from the very first minute.

The snow fell down softly like powdered sugar. It was too beautiful to be true. How great it felt to see and actually touch the snow after such a long time. We stopped in a little village and played in the snow like we've never done before.

Our little snow heart

Outdoors, it has turned colder, what us make to go back in the cuddly small car. Some streets were already covered with snow, so we had to drive a lot slower and more carefully. Michelle wanted to go back outside the whole time to take pictures (She is crazy about it!). We saw two guesthouses in the distance which were on 1057 meters above sea level and parked our car in a little parking lot (completely covered in snow)

We wanted to go on a little snow hike, but it didn't worked out as we had wished for. A little (or bigger) snowstorm was making it's way around us and became crazier as we thought in such a little time that we turned around. But the pictures we took came out just spectacular!

Snow Stooorm

We started our way again since we wanted to go to the lake named "Titisee". The roads became worse and we were so to speak snowed in. The windshield wipers were frozen after only a couple of minutes and the it the snow didn't stop falling. Everything looked like a winter fairytale.

We were happy when we finally saw a snow plought! After a long and for one person scary (for the other one exciting ride) we finally arrived at the "Titisee". It's a lake located close to the "Feldberg",the highest point in the Black Forest. We hiked again and stopped in a little Cafe to warmed ourselves up. We enjoyed a cup of Coffee (and a Latte) with a super delicious selfmade piece "Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte". It's the Black Forest kind of pie with some cherries in it. After this refreshment, you already guessed it: driving and hiking again! :)

Titisee

The snow plought did it's work - the streets were accessible again! No problem for our little Toyota Aygo to get up to the highest point of the Black Forest called "Feldberg". This car never let us hanging! (We already drove to Venice with it last year)

After a long exhausting day in the Black Forest full of driving and hiking, we drove to Straßbourg (which is about an hour away) and stayed with a great host via Airbnb, which we booked 2 hours before.

If you love the beauty of the nature, mixed with untouched snow and a great nature, we would recommend the Black Forest to everyone! It's a great opportunity to explore the beauty around us and the godgiven natural world out there. That place is magical!

Have you ever been to the Black Forest? If so, tell us about it by leaving a comment!
